Jaycee
CrossFit L2 Coach
Beyond being a higher education professional by day, Coach Jaycee is basically a walking fitness origin story. With over 12 years of Olympic Taekwondo training and competing, a bodybuilding past that involved lifting things simply because they existed, and his current life as a Level 2 CrossFit Coach and co-owner of CrossFit Kivnon, he brings enough athletic experience to be the gym's emotional support Filipino. He mainly coaches our 5:30 AM classes where biomechanical safety is sacred, coaching cues are oddly specific, and community engagement is mandatory fun. His mix of administrative experience and athletic chaos creates a coaching style that’s sharp, motivating, and occasionally responsible for someone questioning all their life choices mid‑workout.

Anthony
CrossFit L1/Gymnastics Coach
Coach Anthony has spent decades making gravity look optional. An NCAA All-American gymnast, Senior Elite power tumbler, and former USA National Freestyle Ski Team member, he's been launching himself through the air long before CrossFit made it cool.
Since finding CrossFit in 2012, Anthony has lost 30+ pounds, become a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, and continued competing as a Masters athlete. His mission is simple: help you get stronger, move better, and discover muscles you didn't know existed.
Oscar
CrossFit L2 Coach
With over a decade of hands‑on experience in functional fitness and a lifelong athletic background, Coach Oscar is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer who helps people push their limits without pushing their luck. He's tried just about every athletic challenge you can imagine, but Olympic weightlifting is his happy place — the one part of CrossFit where the barbell listens, behaves, and doesn’t ask him to do burpees.
Coach Oscar is a firm believer that fitness isn’t just a daily workout; it’s a full‑time mindset that dictates how you show up every single day. Some people call it discipline — He calls it strategic suffering. Whether coaching seasoned athletes or someone who still thinks “WOD” is a sound effect, his goal is to help people move better, feel stronger, and laugh at least once while doing it.
If you’re looking for a coach who takes training seriously but not too seriously, Oscar is your guy.
Bill
CrossFit L1/Olympic Weightlifting Coach
Coach Bill didn’t exactly stumble into CrossFit — he launched into it after retiring from a 23‑year career as a Navy EOD Officer, a job where “high pressure” wasn’t a metaphor. He picked up CrossFit as a casual hobby to stay fit, and within about five minutes realized he was completely hooked. The raw utility, the constant challenge, the community, the fact that barbells don’t talk back — he loved all of it.
Thirteen years later, Bill is still on the floor every single day, either coaching athletes or throwing down, challenging members in workouts himself. What started as a personal fitness outlet has turned into a full‑blown passion for helping others discover what they’re capable of. His coaching style is high‑energy, technical, and results‑driven — the kind of coach who can hype you up, fix your squat, and make you laugh all in the same minute.
Bill’s goal in every class is simple: learn something new, get a great workout, and have fun doing it. He believes CrossFit is more than a training program — it’s a mindset, a lifestyle, and occasionally a humbling reminder that burpees are forever.
Lauren
Mobility Coach
Lauren Burnham, CMT, TRS‑C is a Certified Sports Massage Therapist and Movement & Mobility Specialist who discovered the power of soft‑tissue work after collecting an impressive assortment of injuries as an equestrian and long‑distance runner. (Gravity and mileage were not her friends.)
She briefly tried the biotechnology world but quickly realized she preferred working with actual humans instead of petri dishes. That revelation sent her to the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego and later to Dr. Kelly Starrett of The Ready State, where she learned how to fix bodies instead of breaking them.
Today, Lauren is one of San Diego’s most sought‑after massage therapists, specializing in injury rehab and prevention. She won the San Diego Award for Massage, which is basically the city’s way of saying, “Yes, please fix us” and she coaches our Saturday morning mobility class that members affectionately call "Hurts so Good with Lauren."
Valerie
CrossFit 1 Coach
Coach Valerie knows what it’s like to walk into the gym and tell her ego to wait in the car. She used to CrossFit five days a week and loved every second but collected enough injuries to qualify for a punch card. This helped her turn her frustration into purpose.
Already a Licensed Massage Therapist, she dove deep into movement science and injury rehab, eventually earning certifications in NeuroKinetic Therapy Level 3, NASM Corrective Exercise, Group Fitness, Nutrition, CBG Nutrition Coaching, and Built Well for Birth. In other words: if your body does something weird, she probably knows why.
Stepping away from CrossFit to pursue that knowledge taught her that fitness doesn’t have to fit one mold — strength training, hiking, rock climbing, and simply moving without pain all rebuilt her relationship with training. She returned to CrossFit smarter, calmer, and far less interested in impressing anyone except her future self.
She may not be the fastest athlete in the room. She will absolutely complain about burpees. She's also still not great at double unders, but she's the coach who understands setbacks, adapts training with care, and believes fitness should help you live a bigger, fuller life.
FAQs
Have questions before you jump in? That's smart. We've answered the ones we hear most—and if you don't see yours, reach out. We're happy to talk.
Do I need CrossFit experience to join?
No. Every person who walks through the door is exactly where they're supposed to be. Our coaches scale every workout so it works for beginners and athletes training for competition in the same room.
What if I haven't worked out in years?
Perfect. That's exactly why we scale everything. Your coach will adjust weights, reps, and movements so you get a real workout without feeling in over your head. By week two, you'll feel stronger.
Can I come to as many classes as I want?
Yes. Once you're a member, you have unlimited class access. Show up six days a week or two—it's up to you and your schedule.
What should I bring to my first class?
Just bring yourself and a water bottle. Wear something you can move in. We have everything else: barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, rowers, all of it.
How much does membership cost?
Pricing varies depending on how many days a month you want to come. Check our rates page for current options, or book your free trial week and chat with a coach about what works best for you.
