CrossFit Terms to Know
WOD
Short for Workout of the Day. CrossFit has a few different kinds of WODs. There are benchmark WODs that you can use to track your progress and there are Hero WODs that honor the sacrifice of our service members, first responders, and individuals of extreme merit.
AMRAP
As Many Rounds (or Reps-repetitions) As Possible - WODs that are AMRAPS have you doing a set number of movements withing a given time with the goal of getting as many rounds and repetitions of those movements within that time.
EMOM
Every Minute on the Minute - Athletes perform a series of movements as fast as they can within a minute. If the prescribed movement and reps are finished, athletes can rest for the remainder of the minute until the next minute starts.
Rx/SCALED
When a WOD is done Rx, it means that the athlete completed the workout as prescribed. If an athlete is still working toward being able to complete an Rx WOD, they can Scale the movements, weight, repetitions, or time domain of the movement.
